Chapter 73: Just a Sign

“Okay stop,” I finally looked up at Daven. He looked at me confused as I sat my drink down. “You’ve been apologizing since we started talking again,” I pointed out.

“I keep apologizing because I don’t know how you feel about the situation. You never told me how you felt back then,” he shrugged. I didn’t wanna get into my emotions but I wanted him to stop apologizing.

“You can’t turn a hoe into a housewife,” I said slowly. He was about to start talking but I held my hand up. “That sentence stuck with me for the last six years. You made me feel like a slut and like I was incapable to love and be loved. I felt like nothing was worth it anymore. I started to think that you were right. Maybe I was a hoe just because I used to strip. I got forced into stripping for my family. I needed money and I got it. I let you get to me but I learned that you didn’t know a thing about me. You don’t know me Daven and I don’t think you ever did,” I admitted.

“So what does this mean?” He looked nervous.

“It means maybe you should get to know me,” I let out a small grin. His eyes lit up when he realized what I was implying. I guess a second chance wouldn’t be that bad.

Blake

“There’s my little nerd,” I heard Nae say as she walked downstairs. I playfully rolled my eyes and stopped reading my book.

“Oh shut up. I didn’t feel like putting my contacts in yet,” I got up and kissed her. “I think you might wanna put some concealer on that,” I eyed her neck.

“It’s not my fault that you bite. I swear you like marking me up,” she joked.

“I love marking you up,” I kissed her again.

“I should’ve stayed with Nicki,” I heard Paris groan.

“Get used to it,” Jessi chuckled. They walked into the kitchen and I just stayed in Nae’s arms.

“I like you with your glasses. It reminds me of when I first met you,” she chuckled.

“I do not wanna remember that,” I huffed.

“How did y’all meet?” Jessi and Paris suddenly reappeared. Nae and I shared a look and I took over to tell the story.

I was sitting at a lunch table by myself as always. I was a weird twelve year old girl and people always made fun of me. Maybe it’s because I skipped a grade and no one in my grade wanted to be friends with a twelve year old. Or maybe I’m just weird. “This seat taken?” I looked up and saw the new girl standing next to me.

“I don’t think you should sit with me. They won’t like that,” I said softly. Her eyes soften as she observed me.

“I think I’ll take my chances,” she smiled before sitting down. I don’t know why she would risk being made fun of just to sit with me at lunch. “So what’s your name?” She asked once she got her lunch out.

“Blakelynn,” I told her. I never really liked my name because everyone made fun of it. They basically make fun of anything about me.

“That’s a cute name. I’m Jaznae but I go by Nae. Nice to officially meet you Blakelynn,” she held out her hand.

“You too Nae,” I let out a small smile and shook it. I think I’m gonna like her.

“Aww little Blakelynn,” Paris tried to pinch my cheek.

“Shut up!” I laughed and pushed her away.

“I thought she was the most adorable person I’ve ever met,” Nae pulled me close.

“I was such a nerd,” I chuckled.

“You were my nerd,” I let out a small smile at the sound of that. She still made me feel how I felt all those years ago.

Nicki

“Why do you look nervous again? Babe, you already proposed,” I laughed at Aubrey’s demeanor.

“I just get nervous every once in a while,” he shrugged. I knew there was more to it and quite frankly, everyone was acting weird; Aubrey all the way down to Jessi. “How’s my baby?” He rubbed my belly.

“And here I was thinking you were talking about me,” I playfully pouted.

“I thought it was implied. I’m already your daddy,” he smirked.

“Shut up,” I giggled.

“I’m gonna pretend that I did not just hear that,” we turned and saw Mylan looking at us like we were absolutely disgusting.

“Mylan,” Aubrey said but she shook her head.

“No Dad, no I can’t call you that. I’m just gonna go over to Nyra’s house,” she rushed outside. I couldn’t hold in my laugh and neither could Aubrey.

“Watch what you say around her.”

“How was I supposed to know that she would walk in at that exact moment?” He said in his defensive.

“You’re right,” I kissed him. “Mylan went out and I’m in the mood,” I bit my lip and eyed him.

“Damn,” he mumbled before picking me up. “Now imma have you calling me daddy.”

Cassie

“Okay so you can have Alexis for some time during the summer and we can decide on what breaks you can have her. If you want to see this baby then you’ll have to come to Paris because I’m not traveling with it. If you want to talk to Alexis then you will text me only to say that you want to talk to her. She’ll answer and talk to you until you’re done.

As far as you trying to change her last name, I’ll compromise on it. Her name will be Alexis Marie Keeling-Moss because my husband did and will still raise her. The baby that will be born will have the same last name as Alexis. If you want something from me outside of Alexis then forget about. I think that covers everything, did I forget something babe?” I looked at Kyle.

“Nope, I think he gets the point. Let’s go,” Kyle stood up and I did too.

“Bye Daddy,” Alexis hugged Shad before we left his house. Kyle picked up Alexis and then wrapped his arm around me. Only one more week and then I’ll be back in Paris.

Jhene

I quickly got dressed and packed my stuff before heading off to Aubrey’s house. I knocked on the door and he opened it looking shocked. “Jhene?”

“Hey, can I stay with you for a couple of days?” I asked.

“Yeah, of course,” he let me in and grabbed my bags. He led me to the guest room and I knew he had questions. “Why aren’t you staying with that man you call a father?” He eyed me to make sure I didn’t have any bruises.

“He’s in the hospital,” I shrugged.

“What for?” He scrunched up his face.

“Food poisoning,” I smirked.

“You didn’t,” he narrowed his eyes at me.

“No I didn’t,” I laughed. “He’s in the hospital because he might have fallen down the stairs and tore something. I knew that if he went to the hospital then they would check his blood. He does illegal drugs and I heard that he’s gonna go to prison. That’s what he gets for everything that happened in the past,” I smiled proudly.

“How did you think of all of that?”

“Channing help me,” as soon as I said that he went cold. “My bad,” I quickly apologized.

“You’re good. I was just about to head off to Mere’s. Nicki is here and Mylan should be back soon,” he told me before leaving. I shrugged and went to find something to do.

Drake

“You’re finally growing up,” Mere said as she stood next to me. She looked proud of me and that just made me feel even better.

“Sorry it took me a couple years,” I laughed with her. We looked out at the view of the sky as the sun started to set. I needed to get my shit together and she was the one always pushing me to do the right thing. I have no idea where my life would be without her. She is my sister in my head and that’ll never change. We grew up together and we’ve always had each other’s back.

“So tell me this, are you sure that you’re serious this time? If you hurt that poor girl one more time Aubrey,” she gave me a look. I’m fully committed to Nicki this time. I have another child to worry about and I don’t want the same thing that happened with My to happen to this baby.

“I’m dead serious this time because this time is different. I have a kid on the way with the woman I love. There is nothing more that I want other than to wake up next to her for the rest of my life. I love that girl and if this doesn’t prove it then I don’t know what else to do,” I told her. I love Nicki to the point where it used to scare me. I used to be afraid because I never felt the way I feel about her with anyone else. I thought I knew what love was but I didn’t know what it was until Nicki. I’m not afraid anymore, I love that girl more than I love myself and I’m gonna prove it.

“I’m proud of you Aubrey and I hope this works. You know your mother would be proud of you too,” she shot me a sad smile. That was always hard to think about, she should be here. I do know that she’s proud of me for finally growing into the man I should be.

“I know and that’s all I ever wanted; to make her proud. I know that you miss her too. She practically raised you and Vanessa,” I pointed out. We were all a big happy family and I’m glad that I grew up with Mere and Nessa. They were my sisters before I even knew about Jhene.

“I do miss her but I know that she’s looking down at us and that we’re making her proud,” she nodded. We were all devastated when she died but we’ve accepted the fact that it was just her time to go.

“So how are you and Antonio?” I question. She deserves to be happy more than anyone I know.  She’s put up with all of my bullshit and she still stuck by my side through all of that.

“We’re great and I really mean it. He’s proven to me that he’s the man that I once fell in love with. Blake was like a vacation to get myself together and vice versa. We had great moments and I honestly love that girl with everything in me but we both knew that this would eventually happen,” she explained. I always wondered if she still had feelings for him or if Blake still had feelings for Nae. I guess this just proved that I was right.

“Nicki and I were talking and I have a question to ask you,” I looked over at her.

“What is it?” She scrunched up her brows.

“Would you do us the honor of being our baby’s godmother?” I asked. Her eyes widen and she looked at me a little shocked.

“Seriously?”

“Yeah,” I nodded.

“Of course Aubrey,” she pulled me into a hug.  

“I’ll see you next week right?” I made sure that she was coming. She knew that I couldn’t do this without her.

“I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I love you Aubrey,” she said as I hugged her back.

“I love you too Mere,” I kissed her head before leaving.

I went into my house and climbed up the stairs to go to my room. I saw Nicki underneath the covers so I pulled off my shirt and pants before climbing in with her. “Hey, where we you?” She asked softly as I pulled her to me.

“I was at Mere’s,” I kissed her head. She raised her head and kissed me.

“I love you,” she rubbed her hand along my face.

“I love you so much Onika. You don’t know how much you mean to me but I only can continue to show you,” I kissed her back. She went to straddle me and played with my fingers.

“I’m nervous about this baby,” she admitted. It’s glad that I’m not the only one nervous but I don’t want her to stress about this.

“Why?” I looked up at her.

“This is different than My, I have to actually go through a pregnancy and give birth. I’m scared that something could happen,” she was starting to get emotional but I blamed it on the hormones.

“Nothing will happen to the baby and I’ll be by your side the whole way. I love you Onika and nothing will change that,” I pulled her so that she was laying on top of me. Next week better go perfectly because she deserves nothing but the best.
