“So there’s
the head and the toes,” Aubrey and I stared at the monitor. I couldn’t believe
that we were staring at our baby. I saw Aubrey staring in shock so I guess his
reaction was very similar to mine.
“It’s so
small,” Mylan said as she looked. She had begged to come back with us so she
could see the baby on the screen and of course Aubrey couldn’t tell her no. I
don’t mind her being back here because it just makes us feel like one big happy
family.
“Wow,” it
finally soaked in that I was pregnant. I’m gonna have a human being living
inside of me. I was scared to actually be pregnant but I was also extremely
happy because I’m having a baby by the love of my life.
“Alright so
I’ll see you in four weeks,” we left and decided to go out to eat. Everything
has been going perfectly; almost too perfect. We were just enjoying each
other’s company.
“I have a
question and feel free to give me your honest answer,” Mylan said as she put her
drink down. She sounded nervous so that made me worry.
“What is it
baby?” I gave her my undivided attention. I don’t know why she would be nervous
about anything.
“When you
guys have this baby, will you love it more? I mean since it’ll be like your real
child?” She asked cautiously. I don’t know why she would even think that. She
knows how much we love her and she is our
daughter.
“Mylan you
are just as much as our real child as this baby; don’t you ever think that,”
Aubrey pulled her into his arms. “We love you baby girl,” he kissed her head.
“I love you
guys too,” she mumbled as she clung onto him.
Blake
“Oh my god
this is delicious. I haven’t had food this fattening in forever,” I literally
stopped eating any fast food kind of food for modeling but right now I hate
myself for doing that.
“I can see
that, you haven’t even taken a breath,” Nae joked.
“Oh shut
up,” I playfully rolled my eyes before eating more. “So I’ve been wondering something
that you’ve said but I never brought
up,” I told her. It was just bothering me so I had to ask.
“Ask away,”
she let out a small grin indicating that I can ask.
“Why didn’t
you tell me that you had a crush on me? Even after we grew up like when we
first got together?” I just couldn’t believe it because I thought she never
looked at me in that way back then.
“Well, when
I was younger I didn’t really know how to say it so I gave up. When I got
older, I just never saw the point in bringing that up,” she shrugged.
“Okay,” I
nodded.
“While we’re
talking about things, I have a confession. Remember that night when I was at
the party and you drove me to your house?” She looked at me.
“Yeah, I
thought you didn’t remember that; you were drunk,” I scrunched up my brows.
“I was drunk when you first found me but I
wasn’t that drunk. On the ride to
your house, I started to sober up a bit. I could think clearly but I didn’t
want you knowing that so I played it off and acted like I was drunk,” she
confessed.
“What are
you saying? Are you saying that you meant to kiss me that night?”
“When I
asked you unzip me was when I knew exactly what I was doing. I figured that you
would assume I was drunk so I kissed you. I did mean to kiss you Blakelynn and
I’m sorry for making you cry that night. I heard you all night long because I
couldn’t sleep either,” she explained.
“What about
when you said you loved me right before you kissed me?” I was just interested
to know. It’s starting to connect dots in my head.
“You mean
when I told you baby I love you?” She smirked. I nodded and she answered. “I
did mean it when I said it. That was actually the first night when I realized
that I fell head over heels in love with you. I loved the way that you took
care of me even after how I treated you the days before. I just turned around
and when I looked into your eyes I finally said it out loud. I knew you
wouldn’t believe me but I just needed you to hear that,” she confessed.
“Thank you
for telling me that,” I appreciated the fact that she told me the truth. I
would’ve usually gotten mad but I’m not. I have her now so that’s all that
matters.
“Now I have
a question for you,” she tapped her fingers on the table.
“Shoot,” I
didn’t know what she would ask me.
“Why did
you act like you didn’t remember me when you first moved here? When we met at
Nicki’s house for the first time, I knew that it was you but I was confused
when you acted like you didn’t know me. You also lied and said you were from
Atlanta,” she pointed out. I sighed and stopped eating so I could explain.
“I pushed
you away in Cali because of my feelings. When I got to New York, I thought it
would be fresh start but then I saw you. As soon as I saw you, I couldn’t
believe that it was you. I didn’t want my past following me so I lied. I just
didn’t want to get close to you again because I was afraid that I would end up
falling for you harder than I did in Cali,” I finally told her. I knew that she
probably has been wondering that since I first moved here.
“And looked
where that got you,” she grabbed my hand and looked at me with a teasing smile.
It got me exactly where I belonged.
Nicki
“I feel
fat,” I pouted and Aubrey laughed.
“You’re
barely showing Nic,” he pulled me to him. “Didn’t you
say that Jessi wanted to take you somewhere?”
“Yeah,” I
looked at my phone and she said she was outside. “I’ll see you in a bit,” I
pecked his lips and went out to the car. “Paris!?” I quickly pulled her into a
hug. “I thought you went back to New Orleans.”
“I did but
I came back for something,” she smirked at me.
“Something
like what?” I scrunched up my eyebrows.
“Just
something,” she shrugged.
“Let’s go,”
Jessi said from the car. We hopped in and ended up at the mall.
“What are
we doing here?” I questioned.
“Baby!”
Jessi rushed over to a guy and hugged him. Paris and I shared a look. Jessi
turned around and brought him to us. “Troy, these are my cousins Paris and
Nicki. Guys, this is my boyfriend Troy,” she introduced us.
“Hey,” he
nodded at us.
“Oh don’t
let him fool you, he’s a dork,” she smirked at him. He whispered something to
her and she blushed. What’s up with the females blushing lately?
“Okay so we’re
here to go dress shopping,” Paris smiled at me.
“Dress
shopping for what?” I looked around at them.
“There’s a
family thing and we all need to dress appropriately,” she said. I was about to
question it but I figured that they wouldn’t tell me anyway.
“Alright.”
Paris looped her arm through mine and we walked in front of the couple.
“You know
your fiancé is crazy right?” She joked.
“I know but
I love him. I love every part of crazy he has in him,” I smiled.
“And I
thought he was whipped,” she eyed me.
“Oh shut
up! You don’t get it until you’re in love.”
“And who
told you that I wasn’t in love?” She scrunched up her face.
“You have a
man or a girl? I don’t know how it goes on in your family,” I joked.
“Oh shut
up!” She playfully pushed me. “I was just joking about the love thing. I love
having a selection of men to choose from,” she smirked.
“You ain’t
ever gonna settle down,” I laughed.
“I’ll
settle down when I meet a guy who can handle my ass. I know I can be a bit
much,” she shrugged.
“So why are
we really going dress shopping?” I gave her a knowing look.
“If you’re
trying to get me to crack then you have the wrong twin. Last time I checked, my
name was Paris not Blakelynn,” she grinned.
“Fine,” I
gave up.
Mere
I swear it
feels like I’m always out on this damn balcony with a drink. I took sip and
tried to not let my mind remember the past. I needed to ignore the flashbacks,
they were too much to handle. I heard the door open and cursed under my breath
when I saw Blake. Well it could be worse, it could’ve been Aubrey. “How’d you
know I was out here?” I asked her as she came and sat next to me.
“Ryan
called me over. He said that he saw you but didn’t know what to do. What’s
wrong Mere?” She grabbed the drink out of my hand.
“It’s
nothing,” I shook my head not wanting to talk about it.
“What
happened to no secrets between us?” She raised a brow. I sighed and looked down
at my hands.
“Today’s
the anniversary of my father’s death. It’s been eighteen years,” I couldn’t
believe that it’s been that long.
“He died
when you were eight?”
“Yeah,” I
nodded.
“Drinking
isn’t gonna solve anything,” she gave me a look.
“It just
gives me comfort,” I shrugged.
“That’s
dangerous and we both know that. I’m not the only one concerned Mere,” she
pointed towards the door. I looked over and saw Vanessa standing there.
“You never
want to be together on this day but I’m not letting you stay out here and
drink,” she sat on the other side of me.
“It’s just hard,”
I tugged at the locket around my neck. My dad gave it to me on my eighth
birthday. I always have it with me.
“I know it’s
hard and that’s exactly why we’re not leaving you,” Blake grabbed my hand and
Nessa grabbed my other.
“Thanks,” I
have them a small smile.
“You know I
got you Mere,” Nessa bumped her shoulder with mine.
“And you know
I’ll always be here,” Blake promised me. I heard a throat clear and saw Ryan
standing there.
“I know I
don’t show it but I’m here for you too. Y’all are the only cousins that I have
and I love you guys,” he smiled slightly.
“Come here
Ryan,” I opened my arms and he hugged me.
“So
when are you gonna ditch Drake?”
“Same
old Ryan,” Nessa chuckled.
Drake
“You got it
all set up?” I asked her as soon as I arrived at her house. I needed to make
sure that everything was in order because I don’t need her fucking up.
“Yeah but
it’ll take about a week or so to get everything done. Is that enough time?” She
questioned. A week should be more than enough time so I guess it’s good.
“That
should be fine as long as everything else works out,” I nodded. Everything had
to be perfect and I turn into a control freak when that is set in my mind.
“Well then
I got everything handled Aubrey,” she smiled. It’s nice that I can call in
favors from her because it would’ve taken longer to just find someone else who
might fuck up. I trust her more than some random person that I don’t know.
“Thanks
Nebby,” I gave her a hug before leaving. I’m not fucking up this time. I looked
at my phone and got in my car. I drove over to the hotel and got out. I walked
in and went up to the room that he said was his. I knocked and he opened the
door.
“Right on
time,” he let me in. I saw Caiah sitting in a chair next to this guy. I didn’t
know who he was but he was quite intimidating.
“Drake,
this is my brother, Shawn. Shawn, this is Onika’s fiancé,” Robert introduced
us.
“Oh you’re
Drake,” he nodded but made no move to greet me. I sat down and Robert sat next
to me.
“So you
wanted to talk to me about something?”
“Yeah, I love
Onika to the point where there are no words that can explain how I feel,” I was
cut off by Caiah.
“Can you
stop gushing over my sister? It’s pretty disgusting,” he scrunched his face up.
I let out a chuckle and Robert cracked a smile.
“Where is
this going son?” Robert turned to me.
“I want to
marry Onika.”
“Ain’t that
the point of an engagement ring?” Shawn looked at me like I was stupid.
“I don’t
think you understand what I’m saying. I want to marry her next week,” I
finished and they all looked at me like I was crazy.
“You can’t
plan no wedding in a week,” Shawn shook his head.
“Everything
is already planned; all we need is her dress size,” I said.
“How long
did it take you to plan this?”
“About two
months,” I calculated.
“So she
doesn’t know about the wedding?” Caiah had a grin on his face. He loved surprises
much like Mylan.
“No she
doesn’t. I want to surprise her with this and give her everything she deserves
before the baby is born,” I nodded.
“Nigga you
is crazy,” Shawn stared me down before grinning. “Welcome to the family man,”
he reached out and shook my hand.
“I’m down
with it,” Caiah nodded. I turned to look at Robert. He had a good poker face and I
didn’t know what was going through his head.
“I guess I
have a daughter to walk down the aisle,” he smiled.
