Chapter 45: You’ll Never Know

Nicki’s P.O.V.

“Why didn’t you tell me that you walked in on him?” Drake asked me as we cuddled in his bed. I knew I should have lied because here comes the drama with the truth. It really wasn’t a big deal because I barely saw anything.

“Because it was embarrassing for him and it’s not like I saw much. I saw him with his hand and lotion next to him,” I shrugged. It wasn’t even awkward because I quickly shut his door and laughed. He came out fully clothed and laughed with me. It was nice that we laughed at a situation like that.

“You still could’ve told me,” he grumbled. I straddled him and made him look at me. It wasn’t something that you really wanna tell your boyfriend. Who would tell their boyfriend that they walked in on a guy jacking off? Not to mention that’s a guy you have feelings for. That just makes things worse.

“I truly didn’t think it was a big deal. I’ll tell you every little thing from now on,” I giggled when he gripped my ass.

“You better,” he pecked my lips.

“Yes Papi,” I bit my lip as I started to grind on him.

“Damn,” he threw his head back. My phone started ringing and I was about to stop but he grabbed me. “They can leave a message,” he pulled me to him. We tried to ignore it but eventually he let me answer it.

“Yeah?” I answered. I jumped off of Aubrey and rushed to put clothes on. I changed as quickly as I could and I almost fell a couple of times.

“What happened?” He sat up. I guess I was looking like a maniac getting dressed because I was in such a hurry.

“Nae’s awake,” I grabbed my keys and drove to Mere’s. I had to practically drag Blake with me but she finally agreed.

“I was about to get some,” she pouted.

“And Nae’s awake,” I glanced at her.

“Does she want a tiara? Why would I care if she’s awake?” She rolled her eyes. She really is holding a grudge against Nae but she was on shit that made her that fucked up.

“You’re in this car aren’t you?” She remained silent after that and I shook my head as we picked up CeeJay. We walked into the hospital and went to Nae’s door.

“Who wants to see her first?” I looked in between them. I knew that Blake wouldn’t want to so I just assumed CeeJay would.

“Not me,” Blake took out her phone and start typing something. She’s too stubborn for her own good.

“I’ll go,” CeeJay went in and a few seconds later; Karla walked out. She shot us smiles as she headed to the bathroom.

“You’re glowing,” I smirked at Blake. She hasn’t been this happy in a long time so I’m glad that Mere’s keeping her happy.

“Really; I’m just really happy,” she smiled before continuing to type on her phone. What was she doing that was more important than this?

“I’m glad Mere makes you happy but don’t forget that Nae is still your friend,” I reminded her. Nae was a better friend before she started the drugs. It’s just hard to get through Blake’s hard head.

“She lost that titled when she left me drunk and alone in the rain with no ride,” she shook her head. Yeah that was a bad move on Nae’s part but like I said, she was fucked up. Blake finally turned off her phone and slid it in her back pocket.

“She was hurt and she was on pills,” I tried to reason with her but CeeJay came out. I shot her a look to tell her that this conversation wasn’t over.

“She’s being surprisingly nice,” she warned us.  I walked in next and Nae smiled at me. Nae smiling after waking up from a coma; is this some kind of joke?

“What the hell did they put you on?” I asked once I sat next to her. She looked so happy and healthier so I guess her time in the coma helped her system clean all those drugs in her body.

“I’m fine Nic. I just want to get better. They diagnosed me with bipolar disorder, set me up with therapy sessions, and medication,” she explained.

“I knew that shit,” I mumbled. She’s always been bipolar but at least she’s getting help for it now. She needs a lot of help but I’ll stand by her.

“Well thank you for seeing me. I honestly thought Karla would be the only one,” she admitted. She should know that I’ll always be there for her because she’s my best friend. How can I leave her when she’s finally getting help?

“Push me away as many times as you want but I’ll always come back. You’re my best friend Nae and you’re practically like a sister to me. Yeah you hurt Blake but that wasn’t you intention so I can’t really be mad at you. You needed help and you still do,” I told her.

“I know,” she nodded her head in agreement. “And I’m getting help for me. I want help and I’ll be sure to continue getting help,” she confessed.

“I’m proud of you Nae, you’re really starting to grow up and realize that you have to want it for you and not anyone else. I’ll be here for you whenever you need me alright?” I looked at her and she nodded. “Do you want to see Blake? I might have to force her to come in but she might,” I laughed slightly.

“Only if she wants to see me,” she sighed. It seemed like she was done with the situation herself. I went outside and saw Blake leaning against the wall.

“Is she okay?” She actually looked concerned. I would have never guessed considering all the shit she said on the way here but I knew that she was only saying that out of anger.

“See for yourself,” I grinned. I’m not telling her shit. If she wants to really know that bad then she can go see her.

“Nicki no,” she refused. I wish that she wasn’t so stubborn and would actually listen to me for once.

“She’s getting help Blake. She could use all the support she can get. You might be mad at her but she’s still your friend,” I rubbed her back. She looked at me and sighed.

“Fine but I’m not gonna be long,” she took a deep breath before walking through the door. I looked up and saw someone I didn’t expect to see. I saw Nae’s dad come in with his whole family.

“What are you doing here?” I snapped. He never cared about Nae before so why was he here? Last thing I needed him to do was get Nae worked up. She just woke up from a coma crying out loud.

“Hi to you too Onika; Blakelynn told me that she was awake,” he explained. Wait, back that up, did he just say Blakelynn. Blakelynn as is Blake as is a girl who said she was beyond done with Nae.

“Blake told you?” I scrunched my face up. That made no sense but why else would he be here? I guess that’s why she was on her phone before CeeJay came out.

“Yeah she made me realize how shitty of a father I am. I’m trying to change,” he looked like he was telling the truth. Blake did all of this for Nae? Don’t care my ass.

Nae’s P.O.V.

I took a deep breath when I saw her walk in. She closed the door and then leaned against it. “Hi,” I managed to say. She nodded but said nothing. She just observed me and I sat quietly letting her.

“I heard you’re getting help,” she finally spoke. I was honestly surprised that she even came to the hospital. I thought she was beyond done with me the last time we talked.

“I am,” I nodded. She was right when she said I need to get some help and I’m finally doing it. It’s gonna take time they told me but it’s be worth it when I’m fully better.

“About damn time,” she mumbled. She still seemed mad and she has every right to be pissed at me.

“I know I said it a million times but I am sorry,” I apologized for the millionth time. I was really sorry for hurting her and doing all the shit that I did to her. She never deserved any of that out of all the people I know.

“Trust me, I know Nae. I’ve already forgiven you. I’m happy now so I don’t see why I should dwell on the past,” she shrugged. I guess she just wants to put the past behind her so she could move forward and I nodded.

“Well I’m happy that you’re finally happy,” I said honestly. When I said that, her eyes brightened. I knew she was thinking about Chimere and for once, I didn’t get jealous. I had absolutely no right to be jealous.

“You’re welcome,” she stated out of nowhere. What is she talking about? She didn’t do anything that I would thank her for I don’t think.

“You’re welcome? What am I thanking you for?” I scrunched up my eyebrows. She’s just confusing the life out of me. Haven’t they ever heard not to confuse a girl who just woke up from a coma hours ago?

“You’re welcome,” was all she said before she left. A few minutes later, I saw my dad walk in. I listened to him apologize and man up for the stuff that he did. I was honestly beyond shocked that he did that. He never apologizes for anything in his life so him apologizing to me is just unbelievable. I truly didn’t think the man in front of me was truly my father.

“Who made you realize this?” I looked at him. Maybe Karla talked to him or something because I couldn’t think of anyone else in my family that would’ve tried to talk to him. He’s too stubborn and hard headed for anyone to actually wanna talk to him about something like this. Whoever did this, I couldn’t begin to thank them.

“Blakelynn,” he simply said. Blakelynn did this? Wait, she went to my Dad’s house and actually talked him into this? How did she even convince him or made him realize any of this? Better question is why. Why would she do this for me when I’ve treated her so horribly? She’s right; I do need to thank her.

Nicki’s P.O.V.

“How was she?” Drake asked me when I got back. I was shocked that he actually cared because of what happened between them. They got in a crash because they were both yelling and not paying attention to the road. Doesn’t he hate her and she hates him? None of this makes sense but this day has been nothing but confusing.

“You actually care? I thought you hated her,” I looked at him confused.

“I was on stuff Nic; we both were. I don’t hate her and I know she doesn’t hate me,” he admitted. That is true because they’ve never gotten into it like that ever. Those pills mess with your mind and can make you fucked up.

“You’re off that shit right?” I raised an eyebrow. I was not about to go through this shit again with him. He needs to be fully clean and not ever go back to drugs. I love him way too much to think about losing him.

“Yes Nicki; that car accident was eye opening for me,” he pulled me to him. I’m glad that the accident opened his and Nae’s eyes because they both needed to stop taking those pills. I just want them to be clean and never turn to any type of drug again.

“Nuh uh, I’m not having sex with you right now. I need to stop by Kolbie’s,” I immediately felt him tense up. Why do we always have to go through this when something involves Daven?

“Why do you have to go over there?” He groaned. Here we go with him and his stupid jealously. It’s to the point where it’s not even sexy; it’s annoying.

“I promised her that I would help her with the routine. I am captain after all,” I reminded him. Kolbie needed a little help and I offered because I live right next door.

“Fine,” he pecked my lips before I left. I went over there and she let me in. I was in sweats and a tank top with my hair in a high ponytail. I looked like a bum and I think that’s why Aubrey wasn’t as worried. We were going over it for a while and Nyra started dancing with us.

“I’m home!” I heard Daven yell. We were still in the middle of the routine so we just continued. He walked in and watched as we danced. We finally stopped and I turned off the music. That was exhausting but worth it when I saw Kolbie nail the moves.

“Uncle Daven! You see me!?” Nyra asked him. She’s so adorable and I remember when Mylan was her age but Caiah was right next to her all those years ago. Don’t let me get emotional right now.

“Course I did,” he picked her up and shuttered her with kisses. He put her down and she ran to her room.

“I’m all sweaty but thanks Nic. I’m about to shower for two hours,” she joked before going upstairs. I started to head for the door but he grabbed my arm. What does he possible want? It’s so hard to be right next door and trying to give him the space that he needs.

“What Daven?” I looked at him. I haven’t been this close to him in a while but I wanted him to get straight to the point. I needed to go home and take a long bath.

“I’m going to the school in Paris,” he told me. My eyes went wide as I stared at him in shock. He’s going to the school in Paris with me!? That would be so cool!

“You are!?” I smiled and wrapped my arms around him. “I’m proud of you,” I mumbled before letting him go. He made the right choice and I knew that he didn’t wanna go because of me but I didn’t want to hold him back. I don’t want him to think that just because he had feelings for me meant that he couldn’t go to the same school as me.

“You were right; it’s a big opportunity and I can’t pass it up. No matter what distractions may be there,” he let his eyes roam over me. I blushed a bit but tried to play it off with an eye roll. Of course he would looked over my body even when I’m dressed like a straight bum.

“You play too much,” I pushed him before saying bye. It felt nice to be around him again. It’s even better having a secure relationship with Aubrey so I can be around Daven and trust myself. I got a call on my phone and saw it was Yana; one of the dancers. “Hey Yana,” I smiled.

“Nic, I have bad news,” she sighed. She always has bad news each season and I was hoping that this season she would’ve been more careful.

“What?” I instantly perked up. I hope she doesn’t say what I know she’s gonna say. Yana has a past that consisted of the same thing because she was never careful.

“I tore my ACL and I have to have surgery next week,” she explained. She breaks, tears, or sprains something every season. Great, we’re one dancer short and if we don’t find another one then we can’t compete at Worlds. Whose suppose to replace her?

“I’ll figure something out,” I told her before hanging up. Why does something always go wrong when things were just going right?

  1. Aww it's cute that Blake did that for her. She can lie all she wants but I know that there's still feelings there. I'm glad Daven is going to the school he wants to go to but I don't want him making this decision because of that talk he had with Drake.
